[a freestyle poem by a Mama who gets it]

Motherhood is making bottles, pouring juice, and getting snacks;

never fast enough and rarely with a please or thank you.

Motherhood is running up and down the stairs 27 times a day, changing 39 diapers, cleaning up accidents, and finding lost pacifiers in a pitch black room at 2:34 am.

Motherhood is kissing chubby cheeks and rubbing fuzzy heads until they finally doze off,

only to do it 17 more times before the night is through.

Mother hood is not always getting to do what you want, when you want, because sometimes the tiny humans have to come first.

Motherhood is teaching your kids to love the Lord, be kind and more than just functioning members of society.

Motherhood is full of second guessing, self-doubt and wondering if you are ruining your child or setting him up for failure.

Motherhood steals your identity, as your name is no longer the one you where given at birth.

Motherhood is like a time warp: some days go by as fast as a blink, while others seem to drag on for years.

Motherhood prevents us from being able to remember what we were thinking and sometimes we lose entire days or events.

Motherhood requires we give everything of ourselves

to raising our offspring and ensuring the well-being of our family.

Motherhood takes blood, sweat, and lots of tears. It is exhausting, seemingly impossible, and just plain hard work.

But then, that precious, watermelon covered face runs up to you , squeezes your leg as tight as their little arms can, looks up and says, "Mama" and your heart melts and you remember what mother hood is all about.

Motherhood is teaching your kids to say "please" and "thank you" when asking for things and seeing their faces beam with pride when they finally get it right.

Motherhood is caring for your littles when they can't do for themselves, but also teaching them to when they are old enough.

Motherhood is cherishing moments when you can just sit and look at them, and do it quickly, because as soon as you blink, they have changed.

Motherhood is sacrificing your wants and desires, and sometimes your TV time to see the joy on your child's face when you watch Cars 3 for the 500th time.

Motherhood is all about relying on God for strength and modeling your trust and obedience to your kids, so that they will love Him one day, too.

Motherhood is about working with your husband as a team and finding a group of mom friends that will affirm you in your decisions regardless of their personal opinions.

Motherhood is about becoming the most important person in your child's life and proudly wearing your new name for all to see.

Motherhood is about slowing down and savoring the little things about your kids and speeding past the not so fun times.

Motherhood is about writing down all the things you never want to forget because let's face it, Mom-brain is a real struggle.

Motherhood is a full-time, 24/7 job that requires every bit of our energy, and it is worth every bit.

Motherhood is dirty floors, messy hands, and lots of laughs. It is rewarding and life changing and down right, just the best job in the whole world.

That is what Motherhood is all about.
